So I shot my first Wedding last week. Went very well. The bride was great, groom was great…the whole wedding party were very awesome. Everyone was very helpful and cooperative.

I shot mostly journalistically with some posed shots thrown in here and there. So far the ones Ive shown the bride have been well received, same for everyone else who’s seen them.

Im very happy with how they’ve turned out and how they’ve turned out after post processing. Im using techniques that are in vogue for wedding shoots right now, mainly because I personally think they look very sharp. If I was having someone do my wedding Id like the photos to be processed this way.

If you’d like to see the ones I have so far, click on the flickr photos on the right to check them out.

Thanks for reading and looking!

I’d say it works rather well. :)

New Theme and other stuff…

September 2nd, 2007

So I think I finally found a theme I like that I can work with and tweak to fit my needs….about time too!! I didn’t realize how many frelling themes there were out there. Plus ones I found that I liked wouldn’t work with my version of Wordpress. Thank you VERY much Yahoo for not thinking we need the latest Wordpress upgrade. Grrrrrrr….

Anyway…. so I haven’t been taking any photos lately really. Which kinda sucks, but Ive been in a non-photo taking slump it seems. I have some photos I took over a month ago that I haven’t even edited yet. I think it’s because Im not feeling Im taking photos that are creative enough. I would like to experiment more and do more fashion and model type shoots, especially experimenting more with lighting with flash outside. Just got to find me some models to work with. And there in lies the problem….id love to do those shoots but I need practice and dont want to practice on people I don’t know. So Im hoping to get some of my friends to maybe do some test modeling shoots….fingers crossed.

In other news…I got a PS3 a few months back…love it!! Would love if there were more great games for it though. There is a game coming out called Heavenly Sword that looks..FAN TAS TIC! Pretty much a souped up female God of War!! yeah boyyyyy!!

Also got myself an iPhone…also loving it. Greatest phone ever…fun to use. Wish the battery life was a bit better, but its ok as long as I charge it everynight. Also it doesn’t have copy & paste…which it really needs to have. You also can’t put on any of your own ringtones without hacking it…this though may be solved this tuesday at apples sept. 5th iPod event. Though overall it’s problems can always be solved with software updates. It has the asthetics and the easy of use and you can’t update other phones with that unless you make a completely new phone.

thats all for now folks..

posting from iPhone

July 19th, 2007

So I got myself a fancy new iPhone a couple weeks ago when they came out. Love it so far. It has real not watered down honest to god Internet ( well no flash support …yet) and I’m writing this post using it.

Have to say this is pretty darn cool. Also found out I can make posts thru flickr and post photos along with it. This is also pretty damn cool especially since the iPhones 2 megapixel camera is actually damn good and usable except I’m very low light…but what camera phone doesn’t suck in low light.

So I haven’t posted in awhile….got a new job finally! Been otherwise occupied with that and other life things.

But I’m back and will hopefully post more often now, especially since I can now post whenever and where Ever I want.

Check out my flickr account for new photos….use the link off to the right there.

Blog ya later!

p.s. Here’s a few of my newest love in photography…macro flower shots…

Looptopia and Emily’s Softball Game..

May 14th, 2007

So this weekend I went to the first ( and hopefully last ) ever Looptopia even in downtown chicago. Ugh, it sucked….just wasn’t much to do. Though I found out from my GF today we missed the spot with all the fun. It was spread out across the city so there was a lot of walking, but it didn’t seem like the destination was worth the walking to get there. Plus it was cold and very windy out.

I also had a sore arm from holding my heavy backpack on one forearm under my jacket at the museum of art because apparently they don’t let you bring backpacks into the museum. They will let women bring in their luggage sized purses though, go figure. Well I had my camera gear in it and wasn’t about to let some 5 dollar an hour coat check kid handle my bag. Anyway the museum pretty much sucked for me…maybe another day it would be better, but then again Im not the biggest fan of olden day art.

After that we walked around a bit and then went to the Macy’s “club” thing they had going on. They had a “club” up on the 7th floor…and may I just say express elevator my ass!!…but all it was was some belly dancers dancing to some club music. They were cool, but hard to see cause of the crowd of people. Oh and I just LOOOOovvvveee how people with cell phones think they are going to get good photos from them. Yeah right!!

So really the most fun was at Bennigans for dinner before all that, which was fine by me. My GF and my friend Suzi and I always have a good time when we go out together, and seemingly always at restaurants.

Saturday was my Niece Emily’s first softball game with her team the Red Explosion! It was a pretty nice day out. Sunny, but windy. Her team officially won the game, but technically they don’t keep score. It’s more to let the kids learn the mechanics of the game. I think I got some awesome shots though, so check those out below. Just click the pics to go to my flickr account.

The 55-200VR Lens I got seems to be working out pretty well. It’s a great daytime, sunny day lens. Its not the best at night even with the VR. Though it will work for what I need it for.

Zach’s 1st tBall Game..

May 5th, 2007

Today is momentous for two reasons…first it was my Nephew Zach’s first tBall game!! Secondly Im going to see Spider-Man 3 in about an hour! woot!

I took my new Nikon 55-200VR lens with me today to my nephews game to give it it’s first workout. Went rather well….seems to be pretty sharp for the price and Im very happy with it. It’s the first telephoto lens I have for my D80 and without it, the shots from today would not have happened.

It’s tBall so there was no winner or loser at the game. Each kid got to bat once per inning and got to run the bases, no one was thrown out or anything like that. It went for 4 innings.

I think the shots I took came out rather well and show the action nicely so click the pic of my nephew below to check them out.

Im gonna go get ready to go with my Girlfriend, Dad, and other friends to go see Spider-Man 3!

Shannon’s headshots..

May 4th, 2007

So last Saturday I had a gig to do some headshots for a girl my super awesome girlfriend sent my way, Shannon. She works in the same office building.

We went to downtown Chicago and met her at the fine arts building where she rehearses. Then headed across the street to the park and near the Art Museum. I took over a hundred shots and got quite a few good ones…I put up the five she choose for her headshots.

They are all in Black and White and I think they look great! It was a fun shoot, photography really is something that brings out my inner happy, and I think the final shots show it!

So without further adue, here ya go…. click the pic to be magically transported to my flickr page with the set of this shoot!

thanks

Millennium Park…

May 2nd, 2007

So last Saturday I went downtown with my girlfriend to do a photoshoot for some headshots for a girl. Shannon was great, pretty and the photos came out great. Hopefully Ill be able to show those soon…

However I also took a bunch of photos at Millennium Park where my girlfriend and I hung out for awhile. Its a very cool place with lots to photograph. There’s the garden, the big metal bean, the metal bridge. The fountains.

The metal Bean thing…it has a real name but I forget it and it doesn’t sound half as cool as..The Metal Bean!!..anyway that was awesome. Cool and difficult to photograph, but worth it. The inside was nuts, reflects things like a fun house mirror on crack. The outside ultimately cooler to photography because it is a bit more subdued and shows the skyline very nicely.

The garden was nice and gave me a chance to do some nice flower shots. The metal bridge had some nice lines that made some nicely framed shots.

Used the wide angle shots a lot to some nice effect, till I got to the flowers and then switched over to the 50mm lens to be able to use the lower F-stops and get a nicely blurred background and some creative depth of focus shots.

Anyway I got a bunch of great shots so …check…them…out!! Head over to my Flickr account and take a look!
